Were you the lucky family member that inherited grandma’s China cupboard? Now what? It doesn’t go with anything else in your home. You don’t have any China to put in it. The finish has yellowed and looks “orang-y.” What can you do to turn it into something that you love??
Here are a few “after” photos to get your creative juices flowing!!
Your step-by-step guide:
Step #1 – Clean! – A good cleaning is the first step. White lightening by Dixie Belle will remove all dirt, grease, and residue that, if not cleaned off, will cause whatever paint you choose, to not adhere properly.
Step #2 – Sand! – Decide on the product you want to use and then begin the sanding. Scuff sand with 120 grit sandpaper on areas that will be painted. Sand down to bare wood on areas you want to stain.
Step #3 – Paint! – After another cleaning to remove the sanding dust, you are ready to begin the fun part…. changing it into a show stopping piece for YOUR home, remembering Grandma every time you use it and creating a family piece to pass on to your children!
A wonderful way to turn those precious possessions into lasting heirlooms that will stay in the family for generations to come.
